The Friday edition of ‘Oklahoma Memo’ will be super abbreviated today. It’s the final day of the European tour, and I’m coming down with a mighty chest cold — and we’re hitting the road at sunrise for a final day of the Oklahoma Ambassadors of Music tour in Salzburg, Austria.
Plus, the Oklahoma City Thunder didn’t win a title last night. Instead, they got routed by the Indiana Pacers 108-91 in Game 6.
It will be a Game 7 for all the marbles on Sunday night from Paycom Center in downtown Oklahoma City.
I’ll be back home, sleeping in my own bed — and watching, hopefully, the Oklahoma City Thunder win an NBA title.
5 things to know:
• Obi Toppin came off the bench to lead the Pacers with 20 points. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 21 points.
• The Thunder got out to a big lead early before Indiana just flat-out took over. The Pacers outscored OKC 36-17 in the second quarter.
• Coach Mark Daigneault pulled the Thunder starters at the start of the fourth quarter with OKC down by almost 30.
• Last time the NBA had a Game 7, the road team won. It was Cleveland over Golden State in 2016.
• Soak it in. Sunday night will be the biggest game in Oklahoma sports history. Regardless of what happens, a Game 7 in Oklahoma City will be pretty darned cool.
What’s happening, Oklahoma? It is Friday, June 20, and this morning’s edition of Oklahoma Memo comes to you again from Bar Hofgastein, Austria!
We started the day with a town parade in honor of Corpus Christi Day, which celebrates the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist (or communion).
Corpus Christi Day processional in the streets of Bar Hofgastein, Austria.
Then the Oklahoma Ambassadors of Music concert and jazz bands performed one final time on this tour at Alpenarena, in the Bar Hofgastein town square — while the choir got in a second-to-final performance.
Our final performance happens Friday at 1 p.m. Austrian time at the Salzburg Cathedral.
