1ļøāƒ£ Gov. Stitt sued over order for state employees to end remote work

Rep. Andy Fugate (D-Del City)

An Oklahoma state representative from Del City has sued Gov. Kevin Stitt, claiming that his executive order directing remote state workers to return to the office is invalid.

Rep. Andy Fugate said Stitt’s order was invalid because it oversteps his authority as the head of the executive branch.

ā€œThis morning, we took legal action against this order because it violates the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches. Simply put, the governor doesn’t have that authority. State employees work for the people of Oklahoma. They don’t work for the governor,ā€ Fugate said during a press conference on Friday.

KFOR journalist Dylan Brown posted it to X on Friday:

Fugate added that he filed the suit to clarify for future generations that ā€œseparation of powers exists and the governor needs to abide by it,ā€ reports Emma Murphy with Oklahoma Voice.

2ļøāƒ£ Sen. Mullin defends Trump, Musk over cuts — says ā€œthere has to be a resetā€

U.S. Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) talked with Meet The Press host Kristin Welker on Sunday. One of the topics was federal cuts made this past week by Elon Musk with the support of President Donald Trump.

Welker cited a handful of articles, from News 9, The Oklahoman (paywall), and KOSU. She then asked Mullin his response to Oklahomans concerned about the cuts.

ā€œLet’s go back and talk about their protests. The chair of the DNC, Ken Martin, openly admitted on MSNBC just yesterday that they were manufacturing these protests. They were bussing in armies to manufacture these protests.ā€

Welker pressed him to answer the question, and his response:

Regarding National Institute of Health funding: ā€œThe funding has been abused all across universities.ā€

Mullin alleges that 55% of money coming in for NIH research at the University of Oklahoma goes to overhead.

ā€œThere has to be a reset,ā€ Mullin said.

Welker pressed him again to talk to the Oklahoma people about job losses associated with these cuts.

ā€œI don’t want anybody to lose their job. That’s the last thing we want, but at the same time, any time you’re trying to secure this country...we have to make changes and we have to make it quickly,ā€ he said.

The security issue Mullin referenced was the United States’ national debt.
