Oklahoma sues 23andMe — Minnesota shooting suspect once lived in state, report says
This is your 5-minute round-up of Oklahoma news for June 18, 2025
What’s happening, Oklahoma? It is Wednesday, June 18, and this morning’s edition of Oklahoma Memo comes to you from Rothenburg, Germany. The Oklahoma Ambassadors of Music tour is square in the middle of its second and final week, and we had two performances on Tuesday — one choir performance at Franziskanerkirche and a pair of band concerts in the Rothenburg town square.
And both events were packed with locals! It was a tremendous audience.
Southmoore HS band director Adam Mewhorter leads the Oklahoma Ambassadors of Music concert band in a rousing rendition of “Choose Joy.”
We are loading the buses on Wednesday for a somber visit to the Dachau concentration camp before heading to our final stop on this incredible European tour in Bad Hofgastein, Austria. In three short days, all 200 of us will be headed back to the Sooner State.
For more photos from the trip, follow me @ryanweltondigital on Instagram or @ryanisthatdude on TikTok or YouTube. I’m going to do the best I can to keep up with the newsletter this week. If I miss an edition before next week, chalk it up to technology.

The state of Oklahoma has filed a federal lawsuit against genetic testing company 23andMe.
State Attorney General Gentner Drummond says he wants to prevent the company from selling its customers' private DNA information.
23andMe filed for bankruptcy and is now seeking to sell off its assets, including sensitive genetic and health data in a high-stakes auction.
"Oklahomans trusted 23andMe with their most personal information, and now the company wants to sell that data to the highest bidder without even asking permission," said Drummond in a media release. "This isn't just another business asset that can be auctioned off. This is deeply personal genetic information that could affect not just customers, but their children and grandchildren for generations to come. We're taking legal action to ensure that Oklahomans maintain control over their own genetic data."
