Oklahoma Memo summary:

  • Sheriff completes investigation into Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters and sends findings to District Attorney Vicki Behenna.

  • Incident under review involves nude images shown during a closed State Board of Education meeting, later linked to a 1985 Jackie Chan film.

  • District attorney decision next on whether any charges or further action will be taken.

The investigation into Oklahoma State Superintendent Ryan Walters is now in the hands of the Oklahoma County district attorney, officials announced Friday afternoon.

In a Facebook post, the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office said it had completed its part of the investigation and turned its findings over to District Attorney Vicki Behenna. She will decide whether Walters committed any wrongdoing in connection with an incident reported July 24.

According to multiple State Board of Education members, nude images appeared on a TV belonging to Walters during a closed-door executive session that day. An independent review by House Speaker Kyle Hilbert concluded the images came from the 1985 movie “The Protector,” starring Jackie Chan.

Sheriff Tommie Johnson said transferring the investigation to the district attorney is standard protocol. He added that he would discuss the case further once it is officially closed.
